How can I make a hang-out corner in my room?

To create a hang out corner, you should first devise a theme for it. You can keep to the same theme that your entire room is, or you can change it up by adding extra touches.

An example: If your room is hot pink and girly, you can jazz up your hang up corner by adding black, white, or animal print.

Get at least one big pillow that would be your focal point in the corner. Alternately you can get a small bean bag chair or two, or a fluffy chair that you can sit in. An area rug can add to your theme, and a rug like this Animal Print Area Rug can liven up a hot pink room in your hang out corner.

Add pictures or posters of your favorite things. If you are sticking to a theme, keep them in your theme colors.

If you have an iPod, add a docking station so you can listen to the music out loud. Add magazines in a basket or books on a small shelf.

What color rug will look good with a dark pink room?

The color of rug you pick depends on whether you want to add a bit of splash to your room or if you just want something to accent the pink.

If you want to add a 'theme' to your room, why not try an animal print rug? A rug like this Animal Print area rug would look great with pink. You can accent with zebra print throw pillows and a few frames or pieces of wall art.

If animal print isn't your thing, you can add an accent rug that would neutralize the dark pink. A rug in cream, white, or taupe would look great with that color. Something like this shag area rug in shades of cream would be comfy on the feet.

There are also other rugs that you can add. If you like girly stuff, this area rug would be great, complete with butterflies and hot pink accents.

How should I decorate my room?

I'm 13 and I'm gonna be a freshmen in high school this year. My walls are white and I can't paint them any other color :(

There are a lot of ways to jazz up a room without painting.

A great theme for room that you can't paint and don't want too girly is zebra/animal print. Because your have white walls, you can go as wild as you like.

Add a new comforter to your bed. Choose a hot, bright color like turquoise, red, or hot pink. With some new throw pillows a cuddly blanket or two, your bed will look like an ad in a magazine.

On your floor, add a large zebra area rug. Something like this Zebra area rug would be great in a room with white walls and bright color everywhere else.

Posters are relatively inexpensive and are a great way to liven up the walls. You can buy posters online or at your local Walmart. As well, buy a bulletin board and some picture frames. You can also add some word art to your walls, and there are lots of sayings you can choose from.

Don't forget about curtains. They make your room cozy and add color as well.

The carpet in my room is forest green. What neutral color best compliments that?

Arboretum1sml.jpgWith forest green carpets, I'd do a white or taupe on your walls. You don't want to choose a shade that is too dark, as the carpet is already dark enough.

Another alternative is to lighten up the rug area by adding a large area rug. If you buy one large enough you could cover a big enough area that most of the green is covered. A contemporary area rug like this Anji Mountain Bamboo rug would jazz up your room and detract from the forest green rug.

Looking for cheap & crafty ideas on how to decorate 2 small boys surf/Hawaiian themed room?

I did a similar theme in a room once, and it was really easy to add beachy touches.

I found a large mural and I put it on the wall behind the bunk bed.  It makes you feel as though you are walking onto the beach.

I added a few surfboard rugs too. I picked this Offshore surfboard area rug and this Surfsup area rug .

On their window, I added sheer curtains because the room was already dark in color. To block light, I put a navy blue roman blind up. It really works to keep them in their beds at 5:30 am in the summer!

I also mounted a foam surfboard that I bought at Costco on one of their walls, and put up a few framed photos of them on the beach in Hawaii to add to the mix. It really personalizes their room.

What are creative ways to decorate your room?

If you like the stars on your walls, why not try a night and day theme?  Your room will look different at night than it does in the day.

Black and white is a great for bedding, but add a touch of color with a bold red throw pillow and cuddly napping blanket. Use glow in the dark wall stickers that peel off and on your walls easily, and add enough of them to form a pattern. The pattern will only show up at night, so it adds an extra element when its dark.  Candle wall sconces are great to use when it's night as well.

Instead of wall art, why not do something different like a port hole? Use a round photo frame, preferably black, and back the port hole with thick, black construction paper. Poke holes in the paper to form a pattern. Maybe you form a star scene like the big dipper or just have random dots throughout. Put sparkly white lights through the holes in the black paper and place it in the frame. Once you plug it into the wall, you will have what looks like a port hole to a pretty night sky.

If you use black and white on your bed, use those colors throughout the entire room. If you use red as the accent, add a rich red area rug to your floor like this Red Allure Area Rug .

For a day time look, add thriving green plants and a water fountain. If you add a fountain that has a light, it can double as a night light or just give off a nice aura when you are getting ready for bed.

How can i make my room fun and colorful?

Add a complementary color to the mix and pull it all together. For lime green and blue, I'd choose hot pink for a splash of color.

If you have a lime green comforter, add some hot pink throw pillows and a hot pink cuddly blanket to the bed. If you want it to be really vibrant, choose pillows that are furry or of a retro-type material.

Add a lava lamp or a cool new shade to your existing lamp.

Get some hot pink sheets and a pillow case that has pink and lime green. You can buy sheets like that are Pottery barn or Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

Add mirrors to your walls. If your wall color is dark, it will brighten the room.

If your current rug is all blue, add a hot pink shag area rug like this Vivid Pink Flokati area rug.

Zebra print bedroom help?

dyn-nolita-1310-090.jpgWhen doing a room with an animal print, be sure to pick a solid color to go along with your zebra. Otherwise, you might end up with zebra overload. Colors like hot pink, turquoise, or red look great with animal prints.

Home stores have some great animal prints. If you can't find something specific, you can always make it yourself. Get some fabric and recover your lamp shade or make your own curtains.

Adding a big area rug with a zebra theme is a must in a animal print room. Try a rug like this Zebra area rug on your floor.

I want to make my room nicer, my mom said she will buy me anything to make it nicer?

red-f-300-03.jpgThere are a few key items you can add to make your room less plain.

A new comforter/duvet cover, new throw pillows, and a cuddly blanket for when you are just sitting in your room reading can all add together to make your room less plain. Bean bag chairs are a great place to read, and they come in hot colors or patterns. If you Google teen rooms and you will come up with a ton of images.

Some stores that have a ton of great stuff for Teen rooms are Ross and TJ Maxx. Bed, Bath, and Beyond are all great places to find bedroom accessories.

If you want too add a touch of pizazz to your room, try out a big area rug. Shag area rugs are known for their warmth and softness, and adding one to your floor means no more cold toes in the morning! Try a rug like this Flokati area rug in red or hot pink.

Alice in Wonderland bed room theme?

burgundy-f-300-03.jpg
I don't see why you couldn't take elements from the movie and incorporate it into your room. However, given that you are a boy I would use the darker colors, such as dark blue, grey/silver, black, and mossy green. The movie has a mechanical, mystical look to it that can definitely work in a boys room.

My suggestion is to paint a large mystical tree on the same wall that your bed sits. Be sure that the trunk is wide enough so that it is the width of your bed. Create a headboard for your bed that is rounded at top, like an archway entrance to a tree. Place this up against the painted tree, so that your bed looks like the entrance to the rabbit hole.

If most of your room is silver/grey, the tree itself will stand out very well. Add some splashes of red and green throughout the room. You might want to add a big area rug on your floor like this Burgandy Flokati area rug for a vibrant red.

Sounds like a great room. Have fun!
