bfd.jpgIf you are having a hard time finding a theme for your little girl's room, why not stick to the basics? A simple room patterned around hearts and butterflies is not only easy to put together, it looks girly, fresh, and cute without a lot of effort.

Butterflies, flowers, and hearts are as synonymous with little girls as the color pink. You can find many different bedding combination that focus on butterflies and flowers, and then theme your room around them.

In a little girls room, its the walls where you can really have fun decorating. Add some decorative butterflies that you find at a local craft store, and create a collage of them floating up the wall. Adhere fabric flowers in a bouquet and paint a vase underneath your bouquet. Use a stencil to add a trailing vine down the wall, adding flowers along the way.

You can also add some extra touches to any shelving that you have in your daughter's room by painting the shelves and pasting butterfly and flower stickers.

Adding a large area rug to your floor not only protects your existing floor or carpet, but can also add a sense of continuity for your theme. An area rug like this Fun Floating Flutter Glow in the dark or this Fun Rugs Heart Glow in the dark will not only look great, it adds a soft glow after the lights go out.

It's easy to create the bedroom of your little girl's dreams when you have a great theme and the right accessories.
dyn-nolita-1310-090.jpgI already know my theme and stuff! Its gonna have purple walls, with zebra themed and pink accents!

The only real rule of thumb with an animal print is to not overdo it. Use the zebra print wisely, and the entire room will really come alive.

Instead of a duvet cover or comforter in a zebra print, try a solid color with zebra print throw pillows. Even one accent pillow out of three will stand out.

Look for interesting places to put zebra print. On your desk, you could use a zebra print lamp shade or hot pink with a zebra sash. On your floor, get a large zebra print area rug like this Shag animal print area rug or this zebra print area rug.

With curtains, it is key to not overdo the pattern. If your walls are purple and your duvet is a solid color, try to stay with a similar purple shade. You can use hot pink or zebra tie backs for the curtains.

Sounds like you are going to have a great room!

I'm redoing my 5 yr olds room and he wants under the sea, but 3 of the wall are wood paneling with knots in it?

I would add a port hole (mirror) on two of the walls and paint a door facade that would take you to the top of the ship. Alternately, you could glue a real wooden door on one of the walls and surround it with authentic items that would make it look like a ship.

You can add other under the sea items such as sky blue curtains, a cute duvet cover, and a themed area rug like this area rug that resembles the ocean.

Webbed netting and nautical touches like lanterns or sea shells would also be cute for a room like this.
My daughter is turning 13 and she is in love with Spongebob Squarepants. I'm trying to incorporate the colors of Spongebob into a more girly room.

SH-09_278x411-01.jpgI think a Sponge Bob room is a great idea, and it can definitely work with yellow and blue. I'd use the yellow sparingly, and have the blue as your main color.

If you haven't painted your walls, choose an nice bluish/water color. The blue on the walls will mesh well with a zebra print bedding set. There are a lot of fish that have zebra stripes, and if you want to carry over the stripes so that the bedding doesn't look out of place you can use photos of actual fish on your walls. Zebra Danos have stripes. You could do a collage of fish decals on the wall, or place several in a matted frame and hang above the bed.

You can buy throw pillows that are shaped like sea shells. They are very pretty and can add color to a girly room.

On your floor, add a large yellow area rug. A Yellow shag area rug can give the room a Sponge Bob feel without adding too much yellow.

Other fun ideas for a Sponge Bob room: Add a small aquarium. My aquarium had a backdrop of Bikini Bottom. I purchased the backdrop at Walmart for around $4. Use an old round mirror frame and create a 'porthole' on your wall. You can add an aquatic backdrop instead of a mirror, and add accents that make it look like a real porthole.

How can I make my room more girly??

DYN2712-990-MAUVE-SLVR300PX-01.jpgIf you want girly, paint it pink. If you want sort of girly with a bit of sophistication, paint one wall bright pink and leave the rest white. Then add a bunch of really cool accessories.

Pick a pattern to focus on. Animal prints like zebra work well with pink rooms. Add touches of pink and your pattern of choice everywhere, and they will pull together really well. An example of a great way to add accessories is this:

Find a large area rug like this Zebra shag area rug and add it to the floor in front of your bed. You can also add an area rug to a corner of your room that you may want to use to read or listen to music.

Find some cool picture frames that you love. I generally focus on black frames, but use a different combination of sizes, shapes, and types.

Add some word art to your walls. Words like "Dream", "Live" , and "Love" are popular and are easy to find in home stores.

Get some new bedding. Focus on a different shade of pink than the one you are using on your walls.

Have fun! Decorating a girly room is always a pleasure.

Ways to liven up my room?

There are three inexpensive things you can add to your room to make it more bright and cozy.

Curtains: You can buy a great set of bright curtains for under $15. A room without curtains just looks bare. Be sure to choose a bright color that you love or a bold pattern.

New throw pillows and a cuddly blanket on your bed: Even if you have plain bedding, a new blanket and throw pillows will liven up your bed. Cuddly blankets also add a touch of luxury.

An area rug: Adding a rug to your floor will warm up the space and make it more cozy. If you find a rug like this zebra area rug and you have hot pink on your bed and curtains, your entire room suddenly has a theme.

Even with white walls and brown furniture, you can definitely liven up the space with a few small touches.

I don't know how to decorate my room?

If you are worried about adding color, you can do one wall up with color and leave the rest white. For something a little less permanent that paint, try one wall of wallpaper. Wallpaper is huge right now, and doing one wall won't overwhelm you entire room. Find a bold pattern with purple touches if you can.

If you have white walls, you can focus on your accessories to liven things up. Make a corner of your room into a hangout by adding bean bag chairs, a magazine rack, a place for your iPod, and pillows to relax on. You may want to add a large shag area rug to your floor for a comfy touch.  An area rug like this Plush Element Shag area rug would be comfy and cushy to sit on.

Add accessories to your walls to take up blank space. Mirrors are a great addition to make a room look larger and add some life. Photos of your friends and family look great in picture frames, or you can buy the re-stickable wall decals that look like frames.

How to decorate a 6year boy's bed room?

At that age, kids have very specific preferences for what they like and don't like. He probably has a few things he really enjoys. It could be Toy Story, Ben 10, or even something like science. I'd focus his room on one thing that he really loves. You'd be amazed at how you'll find little things that will make the entire room come together.

I've done a Toy Story room for 2 boys. I started by painting a feature wall the Behr Disney colors, in this case it was Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster Blue. After I painted the room, I focused on accessories. Because the Disney duvet covers aren't readily available, I made my own. One focused on Buzz, the other on Woody. Each bed had Toy Story throw pillows and a fleece blanket.

We put shelves up and lined it with their Toy Story toys, of which there were many! I purchased an overhead light that looked like a UFO and it worked very well in their room. On their floor, I put a big, plush area rug in blue like this Fun Rug in Light Blue. It gave them a fun place to play and was super comfy to step on.

Other things I added was a round mirror as a 'port hole' and pictures of their most recent visit to Disneyland.

I am re-doing my bedroom, I need some help!?

I am looking to re-do my room, but I am not sure what to do/what theme to do, so PLEASE help me figure out what to do!!

I would definitely paint your room hot pink, but I'd only paint one wall a hot pink. The other walls should be a neutral shade, just in case you get sick of the pink. White and cream are great neutral shades when you are having a feature wall.

A zebra comforter is a great idea, but if you don't want to make the commitment to zebra because you feel like you'll be sick of it, do a focal point of zebra elsewhere. A zebra area rug would be great in a pink/zebra bedroom.

If your room is small, be sure to put up plenty of shelves and use mirrors to create a feeling of depth.

What color should i paint my room?

I'm planning on getting black furniture and a black and white either zebra print, or floral design.

dyn-nolita-1310-090.jpgIf you like zebra print, choose hot pink. Hot pink looks great with zebra print, and can do an entire theme around it.

Use zebra accents, such as throw pillows, bedding, and a large animal print area rug like this zebra print area rug.

You might not want an entire room in hot pink, so you could use the color on an accent wall behind your bed and paint the other walls a neutral cream or white.
