Can you use peel and stick carpet tile over existing carpet without ruining the existing

carpet?

A big area rug would be much less expensive than the peel and stick tiles, and if you buy one large enough, it can cover huge spaces. The sticky part of the tiles will leave a residue on the carpet that would be hard to get off.

Try a big, cushy rug like this  shag area rug or an animal print area rug. An 8 x 11 will cover a big space.

Teen Hangout Room Ideas?

vivid-fuschia-f-300-04.jpgFor a bold room, I'd choose hot pink, lime green, and use orange as an accent.

Depending on how bold you want the room, you could paint each color (pink and green) on two walls each. If you just want a splash of color, you could have the walls white except for bold stripes in hot pink and lime green. Stripes are really easy to do with painters tape. I've also seen those colors used in squares or circles created on plain white walls.

Bean bags are a must in rooms that you just want to hang out in. Go for the fuzzy fabric kind that feel more like giant pillows than bean bags. Have a shelving unit full of magazines and books and an iPod dock so you can all listen to music.

On your walls, use mirrors, wall sconces for candles, and framed photos in orange frames as accents. Be sure to have a lot of throw pillows lying around, and for an extra comfy floor add a big shag area rug like this lime green flokati area rug or this vivid fuchia area rug.

Another nice touch is a bubbling fountain or a retro lava lamp. They provide a soft glow and look great in a bright room.

How can i make my room fun and colorful?

Add a complementary color to the mix and pull it all together. For lime green and blue, I'd choose hot pink for a splash of color.

If you have a lime green comforter, add some hot pink throw pillows and a hot pink cuddly blanket to the bed. If you want it to be really vibrant, choose pillows that are furry or of a retro-type material.

Add a lava lamp or a cool new shade to your existing lamp.

Get some hot pink sheets and a pillow case that has pink and lime green. You can buy sheets like that are Pottery barn or Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

Add mirrors to your walls. If your wall color is dark, it will brighten the room.

If your current rug is all blue, add a hot pink shag area rug like this Vivid Pink Flokati area rug.

I want to make my room nicer, my mom said she will buy me anything to make it nicer?

red-f-300-03.jpgThere are a few key items you can add to make your room less plain.

A new comforter/duvet cover, new throw pillows, and a cuddly blanket for when you are just sitting in your room reading can all add together to make your room less plain. Bean bag chairs are a great place to read, and they come in hot colors or patterns. If you Google teen rooms and you will come up with a ton of images.

Some stores that have a ton of great stuff for Teen rooms are Ross and TJ Maxx. Bed, Bath, and Beyond are all great places to find bedroom accessories.

If you want too add a touch of pizazz to your room, try out a big area rug. Shag area rugs are known for their warmth and softness, and adding one to your floor means no more cold toes in the morning! Try a rug like this Flokati area rug in red or hot pink.

Are Jute rugs a suitable doormat?

jute-brown.jpg
Although they are durable, Jute rugs aren't meant for high traffic areas. They are extremely durable and long wearing, but they should be at the most placed in areas of medium traffic. As well, they shouldn't placed in areas that are high in moisture, like laundry rooms or bathrooms.

Odds are the mud and snow would wear your rug down prematurely.

I find that rugs with a backing are the best for front entrances, and they work well as indoor mats as well. They don't curl up because they have a heavy rubber padding under the rug.

Accent color for dark brown carpet and black furniture?

dyn-myst-det-2214-3037.jpgBlue is a great accent color for dark brown and black, and so is red. Go for a sea blue or a steel blue rather than a baby blue, and the combo will look great. You can also add small touches of ivory to it, and it will pull the colors together.

For example, you could lighten up your flooring with an area rug like this Mystique Area Rug. On your bed, choose a blue/ivory duvet or comforter. Pottery barn has a great selection of duvet covers.

On your walls, add pictures with black frames. If you can paint the walls, try one feature wall in dark blue and the rest in a shade two tones lighter.

opinion on a bedroom design..........?

dyn-300-tira-1201-100-01.jpgI'd choose moss green on the walls. You can do some color blocking on the walls with painters tape and add large squares or stripes just for contrast.

Fluffy white beds are great, neutral addition to a room. They make you think of luxury.  If you both like different colors, choose different throw pillows to spice it up. There is nothing so inviting as crawling under a cuddly duvet.

Find a large area rug for your floor that matches your walls or your beds. A white shag like this Tiranga area rug would look great on a floor that had hardwood or to cover up an existing rug.

I'm redoing my room, and need some ideas!!! Any help!?

dyn-nolita-1310-090.jpgI'm a fan of Zebra print too, and I've given advice on many rooms that use zebra.

I always, always try for a neutral color, because then you can pick something like a Zebra theme and add a hot color, like aqua or hot pink to the mix and still have a great looking room.

Choose a focal point that has zebra pattern in it. Whether that be a painting, a comforter, or an area rug like this Zebra print area rug . As long as you have a strong zebra pattern, you can add little touches here and there to really build your theme.

For a teen room, you'll need a wall organizer with a bulletin board, magnet board, and a place to hold pictures and souvenirs. Choose one wall to do an entire organization center.

Fancy lamps with feather plumes or crystals go well in a zebra room. You can also add some luxurious throw pillows to the bed in your contrast choice of color or zebra. A bean bag is a great addition to a teen room as well.

How many rugs do you have at home?

Which rooms are they in?

cocoa-f-300-03.jpg
I have 8 rugs in my house, three on top of floor and four on top of carpet.

I have one in my kitchen, one in each of my bathrooms, a large shag area rug in front of my coffee table in my living room, one large contemporary area rug in my rec room with the TV, and a kids area rug in each of my children bedrooms.

I find that they help keep the floor and carpet safe from damage, and they look great. The boys each have a theme rug in their rooms, one is a bulldozer area rug and the other is a race track. I've changed the main rugs out every time I've painted my house too.

Area Rug/Carpet Question?

How do you think it would look if I bout a piece of carpet a little smaller than the size of the room and put that down? Like 3-5 inches of hardwood still exposed around the edges of the room.

beige-shag.jpgIt won't look weird at all, and a lot of people do that. When you have hardwood floor with nothing to break it up, it kind of feels cold and endless if you know what I mean? Putting a big area rug down can warm up a room or simply change the style of it.

If you are looking for a specific shag/thick carpet in a neutral color you could try something like this Bamboo Shag or this Romance Champagne Area rug.

Any high quality rug won't unravel as it will be reinforced at the edges. To keep the rug from curling at the edges on your floor, adhere it with carpet tape to the floor.
