bfd.jpgIf you are having a hard time finding a theme for your little girl's room, why not stick to the basics? A simple room patterned around hearts and butterflies is not only easy to put together, it looks girly, fresh, and cute without a lot of effort.

Butterflies, flowers, and hearts are as synonymous with little girls as the color pink. You can find many different bedding combination that focus on butterflies and flowers, and then theme your room around them.

In a little girls room, its the walls where you can really have fun decorating. Add some decorative butterflies that you find at a local craft store, and create a collage of them floating up the wall. Adhere fabric flowers in a bouquet and paint a vase underneath your bouquet. Use a stencil to add a trailing vine down the wall, adding flowers along the way.

You can also add some extra touches to any shelving that you have in your daughter's room by painting the shelves and pasting butterfly and flower stickers.

Adding a large area rug to your floor not only protects your existing floor or carpet, but can also add a sense of continuity for your theme. An area rug like this Fun Floating Flutter Glow in the dark or this Fun Rugs Heart Glow in the dark will not only look great, it adds a soft glow after the lights go out.

It's easy to create the bedroom of your little girl's dreams when you have a great theme and the right accessories.
LIN300-TAB101 Chocolate_Spa Blue-01.jpgFor a Breakfast at Tiffany's bedroom, you could put wall decals on the walls. If you have enough of them, you can create a big pattern without painting. I'd use a toille pattern if you can find one.

Focus on two colors, like a soft/teal blue and black. Use those colors in your bedding, curtains (if you need them), and on the floor. You can separate a small room into spaces if you use an area rug to define the area. Try a rug like this Spa Blue area rug on the floor. It will brighten the room and add a nice visual pattern.

On your walls, you can add clocks, picture frames, and even wall sconces or a hanging chandelier for extra light. You can obtain a plug in wall sconce at any local hardware store.

Have fun!

I'm redoing my 5 yr olds room and he wants under the sea, but 3 of the wall are wood paneling with knots in it?

I would add a port hole (mirror) on two of the walls and paint a door facade that would take you to the top of the ship. Alternately, you could glue a real wooden door on one of the walls and surround it with authentic items that would make it look like a ship.

You can add other under the sea items such as sky blue curtains, a cute duvet cover, and a themed area rug like this area rug that resembles the ocean.

Webbed netting and nautical touches like lanterns or sea shells would also be cute for a room like this.
Would you put tiles in a bedroom?
fai-300-Bistro Loft BSG5218-01.jpg

I'd only put tiles in the bedroom if they were the type that had a heating system built in. Tiled floor, although easier to keep clean than broadloom carpet, is also very cold on the feet.

If you want to put tile on your floor, add a cushy shag area rug right in the spot where you would place your feet each morning. You may wish to cover a few areas with area rugs, while leaving the tile exposed in places where you normally don't walk.

How can i decorate my apartment bedroom around this bedding?

LIN300-Bluesheep QY-21 Blue-01.jpgThe patterns are sort of eclectic, and its a really warm color mix. I think you could definitely work a room around two or three of the colors.

If you can't paint, I'd add the colors to your walls via canvases or posters. You can find a similar pattern and paint /stencil it on the canvas. Add three canvases lined up in a row and it builds a sort of mural on your walls.

Take the aqua/turquoise color and add it to your floor or as curtains. You can add a large shag area rug to your floor like this Blue Faux Sheepskin area rug . The blue will really work with the blue on the bedding. Add some fun, furry blue throw pillows to the bed as well.

You could purchase an extra set of sheets or a pillow sham and create a lamp shade from it so the entire room coordinates as well. If you don't have a bed frame, create a headboard with fabric that coordinates with a color from the bedding. Before you know it, the entire room will look pulled together.
How can I make my room more girly??

DYN2712-990-MAUVE-SLVR300PX-01.jpgIf you want girly, paint it pink. If you want sort of girly with a bit of sophistication, paint one wall bright pink and leave the rest white. Then add a bunch of really cool accessories.

Pick a pattern to focus on. Animal prints like zebra work well with pink rooms. Add touches of pink and your pattern of choice everywhere, and they will pull together really well. An example of a great way to add accessories is this:

Find a large area rug like this Zebra shag area rug and add it to the floor in front of your bed. You can also add an area rug to a corner of your room that you may want to use to read or listen to music.

Find some cool picture frames that you love. I generally focus on black frames, but use a different combination of sizes, shapes, and types.

Add some word art to your walls. Words like "Dream", "Live" , and "Love" are popular and are easy to find in home stores.

Get some new bedding. Focus on a different shade of pink than the one you are using on your walls.

Have fun! Decorating a girly room is always a pleasure.
Black-HeadOn-300-01.jpgBedroom Decorating?? New Bedroom COLOR?? HELP!!???!?

Based on the photos and what your blanket looks like, I'd paint one wall red. I'd choose a deep, rich red, nothing too bright. You want it to feel luxurious, not loud. If you don't want to paint it red, you can find red patterned wallpaper and do one wall.

Because the rest of your walls are bright white, I'd paint them a shade of white that isn't quite so bright. Picket fence, sweet cream, or something like that. It should have a tinge of grey in it if possible, just to tone it down.

Once you have the wall color or wall paper on the one wall, you can use a stencil to bring that color onto the other walls in some small way. For Marilyn Monroe, I'm thinking red roses, black cameras, or something like that. Do a stencil here and there, and don't overdo it.

With your blanket on your bed, I'd add black sheets and a few black and red throw pillows. The color of your furniture shouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things, just jazz up your bed with cuddly pillows and it will look great.

On your floor, add a bit of drama with a black shag area rug. The black will contrast well with the red and white.

I'd change your curtains to black or red patterned prints. Your windows should be dramatic if they are up against white walls.

Little touches you could add: A vase with red roses, camera props and lights that resemble kleig lights, picture frames that mimic decorations from movie sets. The sky is the limit!

Can anybody think of any creative ideas for a bedroom?

I'm 15 and changing my room and I want a cool theme like Alice in Wonderland etc???
fai-300-Chelsea PBJ4449-01.jpg

I've done several Disney bedrooms, including Toy Story and Tinkerbell. The key to a Disney room is to bring in the appropriate colors without overwhelming the entire room.

I'm not sure which Alice in Wonderland you mean, but the most recent version from Tim Burton is a dark, dreamy movie. For an Alice in Wonderland room, everything should feel like you stepped into a dream, and be full of various pieces that don't quite work together.

Focus on deep purple, even if you only do it on one wall. An entire room based on deep purple will definitely be more Alice like, but it might end up being too dark for you.

Hang shelves and put up assorted boxes and glass bottles labeled "Eat me", or "Drink me" on them.

Have a four poster bed with white, fluffy bedding. You could accent with black suede throw pillows or blankets.

Twinkly lights hanging on the four posters of your bed or a plant in the corner would add a nice effect. You could also add a small garden statue.

On your walls, make a collage of a deck of cards. Even a few cards laid out in a collage frame would add to the theme.

Your floor shouldn't be overlooked. Try a large area rug like this Chelsea Swirl area rug . The swirl will make you feel as though you are going down the rabbit hole.

Once you get started, its easy to keep adding to an Alice in Wonderland themed room.

I am re-doing my bedroom, I need some help!?

I am looking to re-do my room, but I am not sure what to do/what theme to do, so PLEASE help me figure out what to do!!

I would definitely paint your room hot pink, but I'd only paint one wall a hot pink. The other walls should be a neutral shade, just in case you get sick of the pink. White and cream are great neutral shades when you are having a feature wall.

A zebra comforter is a great idea, but if you don't want to make the commitment to zebra because you feel like you'll be sick of it, do a focal point of zebra elsewhere. A zebra area rug would be great in a pink/zebra bedroom.

If your room is small, be sure to put up plenty of shelves and use mirrors to create a feeling of depth.

Help with wall colour for teenage boy's room?

Tan is a good wall color for a blue room, and dark brown is a nice choice for navy blue as well. Browns and blues are really popular right now.

Add some contrasting colors to the bed by choosing a few throw pillows or a casual blanket.

If the navy rug is too much, add a brown area rug. It will definitely help to neutralize all of the blue.
