Decorating living room with brown leather sofa?
I have a brown leather sofa and love seat. Originally I accented with taupe, but that got boring very quickly. Instead, I chose brown, red, and orange as my colors. These are flat colors, not bright, and they work very well together.
On the leather couch, add some red and orange accent pillows. You can add a brown pillow on there too, and if you are fussy about how your pillows are positioned, you can place the brown pillow between the orange and the red. Focus on fabrics that stand out against the leather, such as velvet or brocade.
I have a feature wall that is painted a deep farmhouse red. It's not too bright and I used flat paint. Only one wall with the red, as it seems to stand out too much otherwise. If you do a feature wall, choose the wall that you find yourself focusing on the most when you enter the room or the wall that the couch rests against. Add a big area rug to your floor to liven up the space. Something like this Orange and Red area rug is quite dramatic and really stands out well against a leather sofa.
Use red and orange in your accents when choosing picture frames, mirrors, candles, and lamp shades. Even a little bit of a vivid accent color stands out against dark brown, so don't overuse.
