Zebra print bedroom help?

dyn-nolita-1310-090.jpgWhen doing a room with an animal print, be sure to pick a solid color to go along with your zebra. Otherwise, you might end up with zebra overload. Colors like hot pink, turquoise, or red look great with animal prints.

Home stores have some great animal prints. If you can't find something specific, you can always make it yourself. Get some fabric and recover your lamp shade or make your own curtains.

Adding a big area rug with a zebra theme is a must in a animal print room. Try a rug like this Zebra area rug on your floor.

I want to make my room nicer, my mom said she will buy me anything to make it nicer?

red-f-300-03.jpgThere are a few key items you can add to make your room less plain.

A new comforter/duvet cover, new throw pillows, and a cuddly blanket for when you are just sitting in your room reading can all add together to make your room less plain. Bean bag chairs are a great place to read, and they come in hot colors or patterns. If you Google teen rooms and you will come up with a ton of images.

Some stores that have a ton of great stuff for Teen rooms are Ross and TJ Maxx. Bed, Bath, and Beyond are all great places to find bedroom accessories.

If you want too add a touch of pizazz to your room, try out a big area rug. Shag area rugs are known for their warmth and softness, and adding one to your floor means no more cold toes in the morning! Try a rug like this Flokati area rug in red or hot pink.

Are Jute rugs a suitable doormat?

Although they are durable, Jute rugs aren't meant for high traffic areas. They are extremely durable and long wearing, but they should be at the most placed in areas of medium traffic. As well, they shouldn't placed in areas that are high in moisture, like laundry rooms or bathrooms.

Odds are the mud and snow would wear your rug down prematurely.

I find that rugs with a backing are the best for front entrances, and they work well as indoor mats as well. They don't curl up because they have a heavy rubber padding under the rug.

Room Decorating Tips?

I'm trying to make a room cool and fun.

vivid-fuschia-f-300-03.jpgIf you can't paint, I'd focus on big accessories. Bean Bag chairs in bright colors, hot pink curtains, or a big area rug on your floor. If you like bright colors, stick with hot pinks & oranges like this Orange Flokati area rug or this Hot pink Flokati area rug. Shag rugs are super comfy to just relax and hang out on.

If you can paint, do a feature wall in a bright color and the rest of the walls white. Orange is a great feature color. Add neutral bedding like white but spice it up with throw pillows and blankets in hot colors.

dyn-nolita-1309-090.jpgIn a black and white room, I'd add a touch of red. It brings in a touch of sophistication, and reminds me of old movies.

I'd go for a toile (black and white) print on your bed. If you don't like toile, you could have an all white bed with black and red accent pillows.

Add a large area rug to your floor like this Black and White area rug or like this Sand and Black area rug. They look amazing on your floor.

I've always made my own shelves, but stores like Kmart and Target have nice shelves in their wall art section. You can buy shelves shaped like boxes or straight shelves for holding your special mementos. Add some nice wall art that also doubles as a shelf. You can find wooden letters that spell out Love, Peace, and other sayings.

Accent color for dark brown carpet and black furniture?

dyn-myst-det-2214-3037.jpgBlue is a great accent color for dark brown and black, and so is red. Go for a sea blue or a steel blue rather than a baby blue, and the combo will look great. You can also add small touches of ivory to it, and it will pull the colors together.

For example, you could lighten up your flooring with an area rug like this Mystique Area Rug. On your bed, choose a blue/ivory duvet or comforter. Pottery barn has a great selection of duvet covers.

On your walls, add pictures with black frames. If you can paint the walls, try one feature wall in dark blue and the rest in a shade two tones lighter.

Decor ideas: I can't paint the walls....any other ideas?

The solution to a lot of wall space and no way to change the color is to fill the room in other ways. Focus on putting texture on the walls, but then carry that over to other areas.

Picture frames, art work, clocks, mirrors, and hung candles all work together to create a collage on the wall. Find similar color frames but different styles, then group your personal photos next to a clock or a mirror and so on. A good way to picture the layout of your wall is to place everything on the floor prior to hanging it.

If you have a strong color theme in your wall hangings, carry that over to your couch cushions. For example, if your wall art/frames has some strong blue tones, purchase throw pillows with that color in them. Add a lot of throw pillows to fill up your couch. The cluttered look will create a cozy feel. Be sure to have a blanket or two in the room as well.

Area rugs make a large, empty room cozy, even if you already have carpet. With white walls you can be as bold as you'd like, so pick a pattern such as this Aria Ivory Circles area rug or this Black Modern area rug . Area rugs work to separate a large empty room into a dedicated seating area.

Lighting is important in rooms with empty wall space. You can hang wall sconces that plug into the walls and don't need to be wired. Table lamps provide task lighting and a soft glow when watching TV.

opinion on a bedroom design..........?

dyn-300-tira-1201-100-01.jpgI'd choose moss green on the walls. You can do some color blocking on the walls with painters tape and add large squares or stripes just for contrast.

Fluffy white beds are great, neutral addition to a room. They make you think of luxury.  If you both like different colors, choose different throw pillows to spice it up. There is nothing so inviting as crawling under a cuddly duvet.

Find a large area rug for your floor that matches your walls or your beds. A white shag like this Tiranga area rug would look great on a floor that had hardwood or to cover up an existing rug.
