What color should i have my bedroom?

dyn-allure1904-300.jpg
Why not black, red, and white? No tomboy colors in those three. :)

Find a toille throw/duvet cover for your bed. They come in a bunch of colors, but a black/white cover with red accents would look great.  Use red for strong accents, like candles, throw pillows, cuddly blankets, or a strong red curtain on the window.

On your floor, add a focal point such as an area rug, and be sure that you get one that has your accent color like this Rich Red Allure Rug.

If your furniture is black, your walls are white, add some striking red vases or lamps as well.

Have fun!

What accent colors to decorate my living room? My walls are light yellow and my furniture is dark brown?

The best accents for a room like that would be orange, moss green, or deep red. You need something to give off a shot of color when you walk in the room. Light yellow and brown with orange is reminiscent of fall colors, so they can work together.

Colors that look like this http://houseofarearugs.com/Mystique-0020-Multi-p-544.html would be perfect in your room.

I'd avoid colors like blue, other shades of yellow, cream, or white.

I need some bedroom decorating tips!?

dyn-myst-2072_8014.jpgFocus on two main things, then add accessories.

New bedding is the best way to change your room. If you are on a budget, buy a new comforter or duvet cover from a place like Ross or TJ Maxx. They often have deep discounts on stuff you would pay full price for elsewhere. You can also shop online for stuff on eBay.

Add a focal point to your floor and liven your room up by adding a big area rug. This is a great way to change your room without breaking the budget, and you have the added bonus of having that new carpet smell and feel without changing your flooring entirely. Try something like this if you like Coffee Colored shag area rugs  or this if you like a modern feel try this funky Synthetic Modern Rug.

Add little accessories here and there: picture frames, posters, flower arrangements, special mementos that make you feel at home. Tiny touches really add up.

What are relaxing colors to paint my living room and kitchen?

Right now my kitchen is orange and my living room is yellow. I read that yellow walls cause anxiety. Any ideas?

dyn-300-myst-0020-8168-01.jpgI've had yellow kitchens and yellow living rooms, and I can honestly say that having yellow walls did cause me to feel stressed. My floor was beige as well, and the colors just all worked together in a sort of dull swirl.

Relaxing colors for kitchens are taupe, mochas, and blues. Avoid brights like red and orange. Strong colors like that make one feel as though you are startled every time you walk in the room. I'd go with a dark mocha in your kitchen, something that makes you think of coffee.

Your living room should be a complementary color that is similar to the kitchen. The rooms in your home should always flow together. For a good idea of what colors work well, choose a palette sample from a paint store. If you choose one main color for your kitchen, you should be able to have three or four complementary colors that match on the palette. Choose one of these colors for your living room.

Tie everything together with an accessory that has strong colors, because with neutral walls you are free to go wild with color in other ways. With mochas and taupes, you can accessorize with orange, blue, red, and even yellow if you like it.  Buy a big area rug for under your table such as this Mystique multi area rug. Add some nice throw pillows to your couch, art work in your kitchen, or a cozy blanket for reading in strong, bright colors.

I think with neutrals, you'll find your house much more relaxing.

What color should i paint my sons room that goes well with a red feature wall?

I'm decorating my 2 year old sons bedroom with a construction/ Tonka theme.

rmk-kid-11-523.jpgI would paint the other walls a light taupe/beige. It will keep your walls neutral while highlighting the other elements of your room, like your feature wall.

In a construction room, you can paint roadways along the walls by doing a large grey stripe with road lines in the middle. Once your road is painted, you can adhere actual construction vehicles (I'd get duplicates of trucks your child already has, or he will be trying to rip the trucks off the wall) to the road with a drill. It's an authentic addition to a cute boys room.

On your floor, be sure you have a large kids area rug that draws on your construction theme like this Bulldozer area rug or this kids cement truck area rug .

Have fun!

How should I do my room?

So my parents have just bought beautiful contemporary home, they get a large room while I am stuck with a super tiny room.
vivid-fuschia-f-300-03.jpg

For some reason the light of your windows made me think of a french-ish type of room. You could do hot pink, white, and black as a theme. If you focus on whites for your walls, you can maintain a wide open feel that won't make you feel closed in (despite those great windows)

Do one wall with toile wall paper in black and white. Paint the other walls white. There are so many whites you can choose, but a crisp, snow white is the best.

To bring in hot pink, add a large area rug to your floor. An area rug such as this hot pink flokati area rug would contrast beautifully with the lightness of your room.

Once you've picked your wall colors, focus on accents to bring your room together. With white on the walls, you can have bright bedding. A white/pink pattern would be perfect, with pink throw pillows. Your black furniture would look great with a combination like this.

I need help with decorating a teen bedroom pink, green, and zebra print?

dyn-nolita-1310-090.jpg
To get the most amount of zebra feel into your room, you need a single zebra focal point. Try an area rug for this, as they give you the max amount of bang for your buck. An area rug such as this zebra print area rug is great for a budget.

Throw pillows on your bed also help add to your theme, but mix them up with one zebra print, one pink and two green or find a combo that you like.

With pink walls, you should steer away from pink bedding. White would be good in a room such as yours, or a variation of the green in your chair.

Find little zebra knick knacks that you like and display them around your room. There are tons of small decor items at stores such as Ross or TJ Maxx. Even Walmart has animal print items in their decor section.

I have a dark floor and have just bought a mink and nutmeg sofa. what color paint and rug do you suggest?

dyn-allure1906-900.jpgIt depends on how adventurous you are. If you decorate conservatively, I'd say stick to neutral paint and maybe spice it on on the floor with a contemporary or modern area rug like this Allure Silver area rug or this Aria Natural area rug . Focus on natural, earth tones for your colors on your walls.

If you like to spice it up a bit, you could have steel blue walls with a couch that color, and add chocolate brown/blue throw pillows on your couch. For your focal point, add a large area rug like this Beige and Blue contemporary area rug. Choose bold fabric for your pillows, as it will liven up your room that much more.
