Can you use peel and stick carpet tile over existing carpet without ruining the existing

carpet?

A big area rug would be much less expensive than the peel and stick tiles, and if you buy one large enough, it can cover huge spaces. The sticky part of the tiles will leave a residue on the carpet that would be hard to get off.

Try a big, cushy rug like this  shag area rug or an animal print area rug. An 8 x 11 will cover a big space.

rho-pg-33.jpgI have a country theme in my house, and yes, I have a few roosters but I really tried to not overdo it.

I used a palette of red, brown, and blue in my house. I did two walls in my kitchen red and the rest brown. It really brightens it up, but not to the point I'll get sick of it.

I think the key to not overdoing modern country is to avoid all of the cliches and focusing on colors and pattens. Gingham is a great material for throw pillows, and looks great in red. You can use gingham for curtains as well. I have a straight black table, but I have benches instead of chairs, so it gives off a country feel.

Add a braided area rug on your floor like this brown braided area rug. It gives off a country feel and is very comfy under your feet.

18 year old bedroom ideas?

dyn-nolita-1310-090.jpgThe key to having a bright room and not getting sick of it too quickly is to use the colors sparingly.

If you choose hot pink and black, then accent with an animal print, the trick is lighten it all up with some white. Paint one feature wall hot pink and the rest white, or if you really like the hot pink, paint two walls that color and the rest white.

Use black in your furniture and as part of your bedding. You can find a lot of great pink and black bedding. Solids tend to be boring, so find something in hot pink with large black patterns or black with large pink patterns.

Incorporate the animal print into your room by adding a large animal print area rug. Something like this zebra print area rug but in a cheetah pattern would look great in a hot pink room.

Throw pillows in cheetah, pink, or black liven up the bedding, as does black frames on the walls with posters that have a touch of pink or cheetah. A cheetah blanket over the end of your bed is great for napping and also brings in that bit of animal pattern as well.

What colors go with lime green and hot pink?

I have a lime green carpet and need to know what colors would go with it because I'm redecorating my room but i can't change the carpet?

dyn-nolita-1310-090.jpgI would throw an area rug over the carpet, just to detract from the lime green a bit. Something like this Zebra area rug would look great with lime green and pink, but wouldn't add an additional color to mix things up even more.

You can incorporate the zebra theme in your accessories as well. Zebra lampshades, black and white frames, or a splash of zebra in the form of throw pillows all work together for a great room.

Carpet question what do I do?

I rolled it out and it looks good, however there is lumps or air pockets in the middle that i cant get out. Should I add water?

dyn-ecl-68146_3030.jpgI wouldn't add water, that will only wreck the rug.

When I have lumps in an area rug, I lay it out flat on the opposite side it normally sits on. Once its upside down, I try to put something heavy on top of the lumps. If it's a fairly large area that is lumpy, I let it sit for awhile and then move it to another area. Even better, if you have a big, heavy object you can place on the lumpy parts and just leave it for a day or two.

Once its been flattened, turn it over and everything should be less lumpy.

Another thing you can try is carpet tape, especially if the edges of the carpet are lumpy as well.

Looking for cheap & crafty ideas on how to decorate 2 small boys surf/Hawaiian themed room?

rmk-kid-11-444.jpg
I did a similar theme in a room once, and it was really easy to add beachy touches.

I found a large mural and I put it on the wall behind the bunk bed.  It makes you feel as though you are walking onto the beach.

I added a few surfboard rugs too. I picked this Offshore surfboard area rug and this Surfsup area rug .

On their window, I added sheer curtains because the room was already dark in color. To block light, I put a navy blue roman blind up. It really works to keep them in their beds at 5:30 am in the summer!

I also mounted a foam surfboard that I bought at Costco on one of their walls, and put up a few framed photos of them on the beach in Hawaii to add to the mix. It really personalizes their room.
Teen Hangout Room Ideas?

vivid-fuschia-f-300-04.jpgFor a bold room, I'd choose hot pink, lime green, and use orange as an accent.

Depending on how bold you want the room, you could paint each color (pink and green) on two walls each. If you just want a splash of color, you could have the walls white except for bold stripes in hot pink and lime green. Stripes are really easy to do with painters tape. I've also seen those colors used in squares or circles created on plain white walls.

Bean bags are a must in rooms that you just want to hang out in. Go for the fuzzy fabric kind that feel more like giant pillows than bean bags. Have a shelving unit full of magazines and books and an iPod dock so you can all listen to music.

On your walls, use mirrors, wall sconces for candles, and framed photos in orange frames as accents. Be sure to have a lot of throw pillows lying around, and for an extra comfy floor add a big shag area rug like this lime green flokati area rug or this vivid fuchia area rug.

Another nice touch is a bubbling fountain or a retro lava lamp. They provide a soft glow and look great in a bright room.

Can anyone tell me how a bamboo area rug would do on carpet?

Villager Natural 7x10 displaym.jpg
I think a bamboo rug is a great idea for under neath a dining room table. Not only are they durable, they won't curl up at the edges when placed on carpets (like some area rugs might)

The trick to not getting the rug to bunch up is to adhere heavy carpet tape and fasten it to the rug. The edges won't curl up.

There are different types of bamboo area rugs. You can get the natural bamboo weave like this natural bamboo area rug or a bamboo shag in a deep color to hide stains, etc. like this coffee bean shag bamboo area rug.

There is a lot of choice when it comes to bamboo.

What kind of carpeting for a pink room for someone with pets?

Hi. I'm going to be redoing my room sometime in the future, and I was thinking of doing it a light pink with carpeting

dyn-300-allure-1909-570-blue-01.jpg
Instead of getting one solid carpet installed, I would buy a large area rug.

There are many benefits to area rugs, but the best part is really the convenience of changing them. If you want a girly rug now, get a rug like this Pastel Pink Flokati area rug . If you decide you aren't fond of pink on your walls any longer, get a rug that looks like this Blue Allure area rug .  It would go well with a minty blue.

Area rugs are much easier to clean than regular carpet, and if they get stains (from your dogs or cats) just get a carpet cleaner or take them outside to clean them.

Decorating living room with brown leather sofa?

I have a brown leather sofa and love seat. Originally I accented with taupe, but that got boring very quickly. Instead, I chose brown, red, and orange as my colors. These are flat colors, not bright, and they work very well together.

On the leather couch, add some red and orange accent pillows. You can add a brown pillow on there too, and if you are fussy about how your pillows are positioned, you can place the brown pillow between the orange and the red. Focus on fabrics that stand out against the leather, such as velvet or brocade.

I have a feature wall that is painted a deep farmhouse red. It's not too bright and I used flat paint. Only one wall with the red, as it seems to stand out too much otherwise. If you do a feature wall, choose the wall that you find yourself focusing on the most when you enter the room or the wall that the couch rests against. Add a big area rug to your floor to liven up the space. Something like this Orange and Red area rug is quite dramatic and really stands out well against a leather sofa.

Use red and orange in your accents when choosing picture frames, mirrors, candles, and lamp shades. Even a little bit of a vivid accent color stands out against dark brown, so don't overuse.
